Re-constitution of Kenya’s Cabinet
Vide a Notification of Presidential Action [II] publicized via a Press Statement on 29th of September, the President of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru M. Kenyatta notified the public of the changes to his Cabinet. This is in exercise of the presidential prerogative vested in the Head of State and Government under Article 132 of the Constitution, as read together with Articles 152 and 155 of the Constitution. The changes instituted are as follows:
Re- assigned Cabinet Secretaries:
- Amb. (Dr.) Monica Juma-Ministry of Energy
- Hon. Charles Keter-Ministry of Devolution
- Hon. Eugene Wamalwa-Ministry of Defence
- Prof. Margaret Kobia-Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes
Re-assigned Principal Secretaries:
- Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Gordon O. Kihalangwa- State Department for Energy
- Dr. (Eng.) Joseph K. Njoroge- State Department for Transport
- Mr. Solomon Kitungu- State Department for Public Works
- Mr. Nelson Marwa Sospeter- State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs
& Special Programmes
Transfer of functions & reconstitution of ministries is as follows:
- The State Department for ASALs has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender;
- The State Department for Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service & Gender;
- The Department of Special Programmes is transferred to the State Department for Social Protection, Pensions and Senior Citizens Affairs; which State Department is renamed as the State Department for Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes;
- The Ministry of Devolution & The ASALs is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Devolution;
- The Ministry of Public Service & Gender is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes; and
- The Ministry of Labour & Social Protection is hereby reconstituted and renamed as the Ministry of Labour.
