President William Samoei Ruto has appointed twenty-four (24) individuals as Judges of the High Court under Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya.

The Judicial Service Commission has appointed Mercy Lamwenya and Atieno Julie Ogolla as Deputy Registrars with effect from 2nd December, 2025, and Shekina Rehema Masha as Assistant Deputy Registrar with effect from 15th September, 2025.

Notice of appointment of members to the Community Development Agreement Committee between Kavee Community (Rabai Kisurutuni Ward, Kilifi County) and Kavee Quarries Limited. ENERGY AND PETROLEUM REGULATORY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF TARIFFS, 2023 FOR ELECTRICITY TARIFFS, CHARGES, PRICES AND RATES FUEL ENERGY COST CHARGE

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced a Fuel Energy Cost Charge of plus 347 Kenya cents per kWh for electricity consumed based on April 2026 meter readings under the 2023 tariff schedule. The adjustment reflects fuel cost variations across multiple power stations, including diesel, geothermal, and imported power sources, with notable fluctuations in fuel charges compared to February 2026. The data shows a mix of increases and decreases in generation costs across plants, with total electricity generated and purchased in March 2026 reaching approximately 1.3 billion kWh, forming the basis for the revised charge.

ENERGY AND PETROLEUM REGULATORY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF TARIFFS, 2023 FOR ELECTRICITY TARIFFS, CHARGES, PRICES AND RATES FOREIGN EXCHANGE FLUCTUATION ADJUSTMENT

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has applied a Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment of plus 123.41 cents per kWh on electricity consumed in April 2026 under the 2023 tariff schedule. This adjustment is driven by exchange rate losses across key sector players including KenGen, KPLC, and Independent Power Producers, with total exchange-related costs exceeding KSh 1.34 billion, distributed over approximately 1.3 billion kWh generated and purchased in March 2026.

ENERGY AND PETROLEUM REGULATORY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF TARIFFS, 2023 FOR ELECTRICITY TARIFFS, PRICES, CHARGES AND RATES WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY LEVY

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has imposed a Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) levy of 1.54 cents per kWh on electricity consumed in April 2026 under the 2023 tariff schedule. The levy is based on energy generated from hydropower plants, which contributed over 334 million kWh out of the total 1.3 billion kWh produced in March 2026, in line with approved WRMA charges applied to hydropower sources.

THE ENERGY AND PETROLEUM REGULATORY AUTHORITY APPROVAL OF THE SCHEDULE OF TARIFFS SET BY THE ENERGY REGULATORY AUTHORITY FOR SUPPLY OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY BY THE KENYA POWER AND LIGHTING COMPANY LIMITED AMENDMENT OF GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 3899 OF 2023 – NOTE 4 AND NOTE 5

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has amended the 2023 electricity tariff schedule by revising how energy consumption thresholds are calculated. For existing customers, the threshold will now be based on the average monthly consumption over the last six months, while for new SC2 and CI1–CI7 customers, it will be based on the first three months of usage. The changes took effect on 1st April 2026.

THE COMPETITION ACT (Cap. 504) THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF THE BUSINESS AND ASSETS OF REGIS RUNDA ACADEMY LIMITED BY THE MAKINI SCHOOL LIMITED AUTHORIZATION

The Competition Authority of Kenya has approved the acquisition of the business and assets of Regis Runda Academy Limited by Makini School Limited under the Competition Act, subject to conditions. These include retaining all 150 employees on existing or better terms for at least 12 months after completion, and full implementation of key clauses in the asset purchase agreement within one year of the transaction.

THE POLITICAL PARTIES ACT (Cap. 7D) CHANGE OF POLITICAL PARTY PARTICULARS

The Registrar of Political Parties has issued a notice that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) intends to amend its party constitution and relocate its head office from Kim’s Court in Nairobi CBD to Thome Estate along Mukima Drive off Thika Road. The public has been invited to submit any objections or comments to the Registrar within seven days of the notice.

THE ADVOCATES ACT (Cap. 16) THE COMPLAINTS COMMISSION 141ST QUARTERLY REPORT (1ST JANUARY, 2026 TO 31ST MARCH, 2026)

The Advocates Complaints Commission reported receiving 359 new complaints between 1st January and 31st March 2026, with most (321) undergoing preliminary enquiry and 38 rejected, alongside 2,948 carried over cases. During the period, 166 complaints were formally classified, mainly involving issues such as withholding client funds, failure to account, and failure to render professional services. A total of 133 cases were resolved through settlements, rejections, withdrawals, and referrals, including 89 closed at the preliminary stage and 44 finalised. The Commission facilitated the recovery of KSh 13.6 million for complainants, referred 81 matters to the Disciplinary Committee, and oversaw the suspension of one advocate, leaving 3,174 complaints pending by the end of March 2026.

KIAMBAA CARWASH DISPOSAL OF UNCOLLECTED GOODS

Under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Kiambaa Carwash has issued notice to the owner of an uncollected Ford Escape (chassis number LFACTMWNX72000050) to retrieve the vehicle within 30 days upon payment of storage and related costs. Failure to do so will result in the vehicle being disposed of through auction, tender, or private sale, with proceeds used to offset the outstanding charges.

TAMFEEDS LIMITED DISPOSAL OF UNCOLLECTED GOODS

Under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Tamfeeds Limited has issued notice to the owners of assorted office and household furniture stored in specified warehouse lockers to collect their goods within 30 days upon payment of accrued storage and related costs. Failure to do so will result in the items being sold through public auction or private treaty to recover the outstanding charges.

KERATI AUCTIONEERS DISPOSAL OF UNCOLLECTED GOODS

Under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Kerati Auctioneers has issued notice to owners of numerous unclaimed motor vehicles, motorcycles, and assorted items held at Kisumu Central Police Station to collect them within 30 days and pay associated costs. Failure to do so will result in the items being sold through public auction without further reference to the owners to recover the incurred expenses.

IKIMWANYA AUCTIONEERS DISPOSAL OF UNCOLLECTED GOODS

Under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Ikimwanya Auctioneers has issued notice, pursuant to a Ukwala court order, requiring owners of unclaimed motorcycles and other items held at Sigomere Police Station to collect them within 30 days and settle associated costs. Failure to do so will result in the goods being sold through public auction without further notice to recover expenses.

MAKYS AUCTIONEERS DISPOSAL OF UNCOLLECTED GOODS

Under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Makys Auctioneers has issued notice, pursuant to a court order, requiring owners of unclaimed motorcycles and miscellaneous goods held at Kathwana Police Yard to collect them within seven days and pay any associated costs. Failure to do so will result in the items being disposed of through public auction to recover outstanding charges.
