Appointments

• President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Dr Ole Mapelu Zakayo to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National AIDS Control Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 25th March, 2022.
• President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Dr James Mandere Rogers Atebe to be the Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 25th March, 2022.
• The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Planning, Ukur Yatani, has appointed numerous persons to be members of the Competition Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 25th November, 2021.
• The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Planning, Ukur Yatani, has appointed numerous persons to be members of the Board of Directors of the Policy Holders Compensation Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 21st February, 2022.
• The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Planning, Ukur Yatani, has appointed numerous persons to be members of the Privatization Commission, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 25th November, 2021.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage, Amina Mohamed, has appointed the Steering Committee and Central Management Committee for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Cairo 2022 Africa Youth Games.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe, has appointed Dr Amit Thakker to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 25th March, 2022. 
• The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe, has appointed various persons to be members of the Board of Directors of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th March, 2022.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe, has appointed various persons to be members of the Board of Directors of the National Health Insurance Fund, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 25th March, 2022.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development, Betty Maina, has appointed Dr Diana Marion to be a member of the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 18th March, 2022. The appointment* Jacqueline Kitulu (Dr.) has been revoked. 
• The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes, Margaret Kobia, has appointed various persons to be members of the Uwezo Fund Management Committee for Baringo South Constituency, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 25th March, 2022.

LAND & ENVIRONMENT SECTOR 

Environmental Impact Assessment 

• The Aspinall Foundation (TAF) in partnership with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), proposes to translocate 13 African elephants from Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, United Kingdom, to Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary in Kwale County, Kenya, for rewilding and eventual release in Shimba Hills Ecosystem. The project involves the unique translocation of the family of elephants by air and road. The National Environment Management Authority invites members of the public to submit oral or written comments within thirty (30) days from 25th March, 2022.
