Significant political events of the week:
On Tuesday, September 13, President-elect William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua were sworn in at Kasarani stadium. This was after the Supreme Court verdict that upheld his election as the President following the petition challenging the August 9 presidential election results by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga and other petitioners.
On Tuesday, September 13, President William Ruto declared that he would appoint the six judges that outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to appoint following their promotion to higher courts. These High Court judges were George Vincent Odunga, Joel Ngugi, Weldon Korir and Aggrey Muchelule and magistrates Evans Makori Kiago and Judith Omange.

On Wednesday, September 14, a section of women leaders in Kenya urged President Ruto to make women’s agenda part of his priorities in his first 100 days in office. Led by Jenifer Riria, chairperson of the African Women Leaders Network and Women Mediation Network Kenya, they asked the President to fulfil commitments he made to women.
On Thursday, September 15, President William Ruto condoled with the family of Baringo deputy governor Charles Kipng’ok. Kipng’ok passed away on Wednesday, while he waited to board a plane to Mombasa. In a statement on Wednesday night, Kenya Airways said he developed breathing difficulties then passed away.On Thursday, September 15, the Judiciary committee said that there were at least 123 poll petitions which had been filed on the e-platform. Among the petitions filed was one by former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero who is challenging the election of Gladys Wanga as Homa Bay governor.
