The Fisheries Management and Development Act – Appointment

  • H.E William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appointed Samier Muravvej (Dr.) to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Fisheries Service, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.
  • Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs appointed Samier Muravvej (Dr.) to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Fisheries Service, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.

 

The State Corporations Act – Revocation of Appointment

  • H.E William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, revoked the appointment of Samier Muravvej (Dr.) as the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council, with effect from the 5th September, 2025. 
  • Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale  appointed Boniface M. Yego to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Public Health Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.

 

The Elections Act – Appointment

  • Chief Justice Martha Koome has assigned Hon. Lady Justice Janet Mulwa of the Milimani High Court to hear Election Petition No. E1 of 2025, filed by Mary Ariviza Mwami against Harold Kimuge Kipchumba, IEBC, ODM, and the Speaker of the National Assembly.

 

The Anti-Doping Act – Revocation of Appointment

  • Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, revoked the appointment of Billy Komintai Konchellah as a Member of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, with effect from the 29th August, 2025.

 

The Mining Act – Application for Prospecting License

  • Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs notified receipt of an application for prospecting licence from the below companies.

 

  1. Nakuru Mining Company Limited. 
  2. Defu Kenya Investment & Development Limite
  3. Mawingu Mining Limited
  4. Bloom Resource Limited
  5. China Wu Yi Company Limited
  6. Sofax Fluorspar Kenya Limited
  7. Devki Steel Mills Limited

 

The applications may be accessed from the Ministry’s portal vide the website address https://portal.miningcadastre.go.ke/ and is published in the Gazette and opened to the public for comments for twenty-one (21) days from 5th September 2025

 

The Kenya Heroes Act – Appointment

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services, Hannah Wendot Cheptumo appointed  Billy Komintai Konchellah to be a member of the National Heroes Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.

 

The Universities Act – Appointment

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba made the below appointments  

 

  • Rosebella Namango to be a Member of the Council of the Kenyatta University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025. The appointments of Alice Waruguru Muita and Ibrahim Abdi Mude are revoked.
  • Alice Waruguru Muita to be a Member of the Council of the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.
  • Ibrahim Abdi Mude to be a Member of the Council of the Machakos University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025. The appointment* of Esther Ngiya Murimi is revoked
  • Amos Okello as a member of the Council of the Egerton University, with effect from the 25th July, 2025.
  • Amos Okello to be a Member of the Council of Bomet University College, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.
  • Razoah Vitisia as a Member of the Council of the University of Eldoret, with effect from the 5th September, 2025. 
  • Razoah Vitisia to be a Member of the Council of the Tom Mboya University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.
  • Nashon Edward Oluoch Nyona to be a Member of the Council of the Taita Taveta University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.
  • Issa Mohamed Ahmed to be a Member of the Council of the Tharaka University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 5th September, 2025.

 

The National Government Constituency Development Fund Act – Appointment

  • The National Government Constituency Development Fund Board, with the approval of the National Assembly, appointed several persons as members of the National Government Constituency Development Fund Committees. 

 

The Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act – Preservation Orders

  • The High Court of Kenya, Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division, has issued preservation orders against assets belonging to Elias Endale Gamada in Nairobi High Court Miscellaneous Application No. E39 of 2025. The orders, sought by the Assets Recovery Agency and granted by Hon. Lady Justice M. Muigai, cover a Toyota Hilux, a semi-trailer, and cash in multiple currencies (KSh 61,000, USD 22,714, 2,000 Ethiopian Birr, and 1,000 Sudanese Pounds), barring their disposal or transfer pending forfeiture proceedings.

 

The Advocates Act – The Complaints Commission

  • The Advocates Complaints Commission, in its 137th Quarterly Report covering 1st April to 30th June 2025, recorded 307 new complaints (mainly on withholding funds and failure to render professional services), bringing the total caseload for the period to 3,165. During the quarter, 294 cases were disposed of, KSh. 37.1 million recovered for complainants, and 37 matters referred to the Disciplinary Committee, leaving 2,871 complaints pending as at 30th June 2025.

 

The Survey Act – The Land Surveyors’ Board

  • The Kenya Land Law Examination 2025 will be held on Thursday, 4th December 2025 at the Kenya Institute of Surveying and Mapping (KISM), Survey of Kenya Headquarters, Ruaraka–Nairobi. Eligible candidates must apply to the Land Surveyors’ Board by 28th October 2025, submit Form “A” under the Survey Act, and pay an examination fee of KSh. 5,050 via eCitizen; detailed guidelines are available in Circular No. 3 of 2025 on the Board’s website.

 

The Kenya Information and Communications Act – Application for Licences

  • The Communications Authority of Kenya has announced licence applications under the Kenya Information and Communications Act, including broadcasting licences for Munene FM, TV 47, Powerflow Television, Rhema Feast TV, Cable One, and Revival TV, as well as postal and telecommunication licences for Boma Net Limited, Rollermax Courier, Northways Services Sacco, and Ecart Services Kenya. The public has 30 days from 13th August 2025 to submit any representations or objections to the Authority.

 

The National Parties Act – Change of Political Party Officials

  • The Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that the National Party intends to change its party officials. Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven (7) days from the date of this publication make their written submissions to the Registrar of Political Parties.
