The State Corporations Act – Appointment

  • H.E William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appointed Stephen K. Maore (Dr.) to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training and Research in Eastern Africa, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th December, 2024.
  • Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation appoints, Eric Murithi Muuga has appointed Faith Kinya Mitheu (Dr.) to be the chairperson of the Hydrologists Registration Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th December 2024.

 

The Accountants Act – Appointments

  • Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. John Mbadi has appointed several persons to the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board.

 

The Kenya Meat Commission Act – Appointments

  • Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya has appointed Jonathan Krop Kipkore (Col-(Rtd.)), Agnes Leina Ntikaami, and Daniel L. Lekorere, ((Maj.(Rtd.)), to be members of the Board of the Kenya Meat Commission.

 

The Universities Act – Appointment

  • Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya has appointed John Ngugi Kariuki to be a member of the Council of the National Defence University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th December 2024.
  • Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julis Ogamaba, *revokes the appointment of Joel Kibe as a member of the Council of the University of Nairobi, with effect from the 13th December 2024

 

The Environmental Management and Coordination Act – Appointment

  • Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Hon. Aden Duale has appointed Maclean Sitati Nangalama as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Environmental Management Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th December 2024. The appointment of Charles Kibanani Ngome (Prof.) is revoked.

The Energy And Petroleum Regulatory Authority

The schedule of tariffs 2023 for electricity tariffs, charges, prices and rates

  • Fuel Energy Cost Charge – A Fuel Energy Cost Charge of 3.57 KES per kWh will apply to consumers’ bills for December 2024. This adjustment compensates for fuel costs incurred in generating electrical energy.
  • Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment – A Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment of 1.014 KES per kWh will apply to electricity bills for December 2024.
  • Water Resource Management Authority Levy – A WRMA levy of 1.35 Kenya cents per kWh will be added to electricity bills for December 2024.

  • List of Accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies. Detailed scopes of their accreditation and a list of sanctioned bodies can be accessed on the KENAS website.

The Labour Relations Act

  • The Kenya County Government Workers Union plans to change its name to County Government Workers Union (Kenya) and amend its constitution. Members have 21 days to submit written objections, with the amendments available for inspection at the union’s office.

 

The Insolvency Act – Ukwala Supermarket Final Creditors Meeting

  • A final creditors meeting for Ukwala Supermarket Limited (in Liquidation) will be held virtually on 20th December 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The meeting will cover updates on the liquidation process, a presentation of the liquidation activities, a vote to determine if this will be the final meeting, and any other business. Creditors are asked to confirm their attendance by emailing consult@ke.pkfea.com for the invitation link. They may also appoint a proxy to attend and vote on their behalf, with no requirement for the proxy to be a member of the company. 

 

The Environmental Management and Coordination Act – Environmental Impact Assessments

  • The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study Report for the Kimakia/Karangi/Mbugiti Irrigation Project. The project aims to develop a community water irrigation system across three sub-locations: Kimakia, Karangi, and Mbugiti, within Gatanga Sub-county, Murang’a County. 
  • NEMA has received an EIA Study Report for a proposed development by HouseMark Development Limited. The project involves constructing 46 blocks of residential apartments on plot L.R. No. Kajiado/Kisaju/22824 along Namanga Road, Kajiado County. 
  • NEMA has received an EIA Study Report for a proposed project by the State Department for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and the Blue Economy. The project involves the establishment of a modern aquaculture training centre and laboratory aimed at promoting freshwater fish production.
  • NEMA has received an EIA Study Report for a proposed project by Grandpine Company Limited. The project involves the development of a residential block with six basements, providing 629 parking spaces, and a ground floor with 9 parking spaces and a supermarket. 
  • NEMA has received an EIA Study Report for a proposed project by DMIS Company Limited. The project involves the development of a 24-floor residential block with two basements for parking, a ground floor, and 1st to 3rd floors for additional parking.
