The Ministry of Health has published draft Public Health Rules, 2026, proposing a nationwide ban on shisha smoking and all related activities including importation, manufacture, sale, and use of waterpipe tobacco products. The Ministry has invited public comments within 14 days and scheduled nationwide public participation forums across multiple counties between 18th and 30th June 2026.
THE STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS ACT (Cap. 2A) REGULATORY IMPACT STATEMENT
The Ministry of Roads and Transport has issued a Regulatory Impact Statement for the proposed Engineering Technology Rules, 2026, aimed at strengthening the registration, licensing, and professional standards of engineering technologists and technicians in Kenya. The public has been invited to submit comments within 14 days, with the draft Rules available on the Ministry and KETRB websites.

TASK FORCE ON THE INCORPORATION AND INSTITUTIONAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT
The Attorney-General has appointed a Task Force, chaired by Linda Murila, to oversee the incorporation and institutional transformation of the Public Trustee Department. The Task Force will address case backlogs, review legal and operational frameworks, and develop a transition roadmap, and will serve for an initial period of four months.
