Rose Njeri, a software developer, has been recognised on the TIME100 Next 2025 list. She is the sixth Kenyan to appear on this prestigious list, following in the footsteps of Senator Crystal Asige, climate activist Elizabeth Wathuti, and digital rights lawyer Mercy Mutemi.

Njeri gained prominence in 2024 when she created an online platform that enabled citizens to express their objections to the Finance Bill by submitting their views directly to government officials. The tool became a rallying point for public engagement, attracting both praise and controversy. Her bold innovation, however, also brought her into conflict with authorities. She was arrested under Kenya’s Computer Misuse Cybercrimes Act, 2018, which sparked widespread outrage as many saw it as an attempt to suppress dissent and restrict digital freedoms.

Beyond her activism, Njeri has built a career at the intersection of business and technology. A 35-year-old mother of two based in Nairobi, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and later shifted her focus to the tech sector. She enhanced her programming skills through global training programmes, including a four-month intensive course with SheCodes in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as digital innovation courses with Alt Africa and Harvard Online.

She founded Studio Libra Creatives, a company that develops web and mobile applications, as well as offers digital marketing solutions. She also participates in initiatives such as Girl Code Kenya, which empowers young women in the technology sector.
