Kericho Governor Erick Mutai’s ouster thwarted on technical grounds
Kericho County Boss Erick Mutai narrowly escaped impeachment after facing numerous accusations, including gross violations of the Constitution and mismanagement of county finances. Thirty-one out of 47 MCAs had voted for his removal, but Governor Mutai contested that the Assembly had not met the required threshold of 31.3 votes for impeachment. Following intense deliberations, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi called for a vote by all 47 delegations. In the end, 34 voted to support the objection, while 10 opposed it, with no abstentions.
