ENERGY SECTOR
The Director-General of the Energy and Petroleum Authority has gazetted a list of electrical energy that will be liable to:
● A fuel energy cost charge of plus 679 Kenya cents per kWh for all meter readings to be taken in September 2022.
● A Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment of Plus 136.85 Cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in September 2022.
● A Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) Levy of Plus 1.26 Cents per kWh for all meter readings take in September 2022.
● An Inflation Adjustment of plus 67 Cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in September–December, 2022.

Environmental Impact Assessment
● Tononoka Rolling Mills Limited, proposes to install a hot structural section mill in addition to the existing rolling mill. The project entails the construction of office blocks, oxygen plant, a melting shop, fuel storage plant and a scrap shed. The proposed project will be located on Plot No. 12034/2, off Komarock Road, Dandora, Embakasi-North Sub-county, Nairobi City County.
● Symphony Residences Limited, proposes to construct a residential development that will entail 2 basements, ground floor and 22 floors consisting of 396 residential units. The development will include 264 one-bedroom units, 44 two-bedroom units, 88 three-bedroom units, parking slots, meeting room, mosque, lounge, kids’ area, shops, game rooms, Jacuzzi, office place space, a gym and associated facilities and amenities on Plot L.R. No. 330/1287, along Riara Road on Nairobi City County.
● Meru Bongo and Rhino Conservation Trust in partnership with County Government of Meru proposes to establish a mountain bongo and black rhino sanctuary in Marania and Mucheene forest in Mount Kenya Ecosystem in Meru County. The project is expected to be undertaken in two phases with Phase 1 targeting the introduction of bongos into a sanctuary covering an area of 500 acres. Phase 2 will target the reintroduction of the black rhinoceros.
