Significant political event of the week:

The IEBC has announced a total of 22,120,458 registered voters representing a 12.79% jump from 2017 when the total number of registered voters was 19,611,423. The announcement follows the release of the final audit report on the register of voters. KPMG had been tasked to audit the register of voters.

The audited register of voters indicates that women represent 49.12% of the registered voters while men are at 50.88%. The number of youth (18-34 years old) registered to vote in 2022 stands at 39.84% which is a decline of 5.27% against 2017. The enrolment rate of PWDs stands at 18.94% of the eligible voting population. Registration of Kenyans living is diaspora constitutes 0.05% of the register of voters.

  • The Official Campaign period commenced on May 29, 2022, and will go on until August 6, 2022. 
  • Political parties participating in the General Election to submit their Party List to IEBC before June 25, 2022.
