Former President Uhuru Kenyatta broke his three-year political silence at the National Delegates Convention, delivering sharp criticism of President William Ruto’s administration and claiming vindication for warnings he made during the last election campaign. Kenyatta argued that many of the gains made in his regime have been eroded, pointing specifically to the replacement of successful programmes like the Linda Mama maternal health scheme. The former president also pushed back against the “hustler versus dynasty” narrative that dominated the 2022 campaigns, arguing that leadership should be judged on its delivery rather than background.
