Parliament proceedings will resume on 11th February 2025.
After finally appearing before the High Court over abuductions of three young men, DCI Director Mohammed Amin and the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja are expected to appear before Justic Chacha Mwita for a hearing.The security bosses had snubbed court summons on four instances before appearing last Thursday over the disappearance of three young men who had been kidnapped on December 2024 near the Mlolongo area.
Employer and employee contributions to NSSF are set to increase once again this February.This marks the third year of implementing the controversial National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Act of 2013.The maximum contribution will rise from the current Sh. 2,160 to Sh. 4,320 per employee, with employers required to match this amount.
Despite the Supreme Court ruling the Act unconstitutional last year, the NSSF issued a public notice on February 22, 2024, asserting that the NSSF Act, 2013 remains in force and instructing employers to continue remitting contributions at the new rates.
The National Working Committee on the Review of the New University Education Funding Model is set to release its final report on proposed changes to the 2023 model in early February, later this week.The controversial funding model is expected to be reviewed to reflect grievances that have married the model since its introduction.
