All eyes are on the National Assembly as the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments begins vetting the 21 newly nominated Cabinet Secretaries. Each nominee will face a rigorous evaluation to ensure they are fit for office. The vetting for the first and second batches will take place from August 1 to 4 at the Mini-Chamber in County Hall, Parliament Buildings at 8:00 AM. This event is open to the public, with live streaming available online.

Taking place from the 29th July to 2nd August 2024, the primary goal of the Specialized Technical Committee on Social Development, Labour and Employment is to evaluate and endorse strategies and policies at both continental and regional levels to promote social development, labour, and employment. The Specialized Technical Committee will review specific roadmaps aimed at implementing policies and strategies in areas such as social protection, social and solidarity economy, labour migration, youth employment, child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, and ending exploitation and abuse of children. Additionally, the STC will receive knowledge products that offer insights into wage issues in Africa and the operationalization of dialogue mechanisms related to labour migration.
His Excellency the President has, nominated Mr. Douglas Kanja Kirocho for appointment as the Inspector-General of the National Police Service.
Mr. Douglas Kanja is the Acting Inspector-General of the National Police Service. He has had a career spanning nearly four decades in law enforcement, during which he rose through the ranks to the top command of the Service. He previously served as Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Commandant of the General Service Unit for a period of five years, Deputy Commandant of the General Service Unit for three years, County Police Commander in charge of Kilifi County, Deputy Commandant of Kenya Airports Police Unit, Chief Armourer at the Police Headquarters and Deputy Chief Armourer at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters, among other high level positions within the ranks of the National Police Service.
