The 78th World Health Assembly

The 78th World Health Assembly is coming to a close this week on 27th May in Geneva, wrapping up a week of high-level discussions and decisions that have shaped the global health agenda. Held under the theme “One World for Health,” the Assembly has brought together representatives from WHO Member States to address pressing health issues, including the formal adoption of the historic WHO Pandemic Agreement aimed at strengthening future pandemic preparedness. Key sessions have focused on climate and health, sustainable health financing, and equity in healthcare access. As the Assembly concludes, stakeholders are encouraged to reflect on the outcomes and prepare for the implementation of the commitments made.

The Connected Africa Summit 2025.

This week, the Connected Africa Summit 2025 is set to take place from 25th May to 29th May in Diani, Kenya. The overall objective of the summit is “Creating business opportunities for growth”. The summit will therefore focus on providing a platform to local and regional innovators and businesses for growth. It will also provide an opportunity to review the progress of implementation of the Nairobi Declaration as well as discuss critical topics as outlined below. Building on the momentum of past editions, Connected Africa Summit 2025 will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, innovators and investors to chart actionable pathways for leveraging technology to address the continent’s challenges and unlock transformative opportunities.

James M. Gossip

 Managing Director (Executive) of NCBA Bank Kenya PLC

The NCBA Group appointed Mr. James M. Gossip as the Managing Director (Executive) of NCBA Bank Kenya PLC, effective 12th May 2025.

Jomes is an international banking executive with over 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia, and North America. He has served in C-suite, Executive Committees, and Board positions within major financial institutions. Prior to joining NCBA, James held various senior roles at HSBC, the most recent being Managing Director, Belt & Road Initiative and Business Corridors, Asia Pacific, at HSBC Global Services Limited in Hong Kong. In this capacity, he led regional growth strategies to unlock cross-border trade and investment flows within Asia and connecting Asia to international markets.

James holds a BA (Hons) in Economics & Accountancy from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and the Securities & Futures Association (UK). 

Shem Omuga

Dealer Director

Shem has been serving in this role in an acting capacity over the past year. In this role, Shem will be responsible for the retail performance across Kenya, covering sales, workshop services, and parts operations, and will continue to be part of the Executive Team at the company, reporting directly to the Managing Director. 

 

His 19 years worth of experience spans across the automotive, telecommunications, aviation, banking, and electronics sectors. Shem holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, along with executive education credentials from the Stockholm School of Economics and Strathmore Business School.
