Parliamentary Committee to Consider Kenya-Singapore Double Taxation Agreement

On Tuesday, 25th November 2025, the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning will convene to consider and adopt the report on the Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Singapore for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance. Committee members, tax experts, policymakers, and legal advisers will engage in detailed deliberations on the treaty’s provisions and their implications for bilateral trade, investment flows, and compliance requirements, making this a pivotal session for Kenya’s fiscal and international tax policy framework.

MoneyAura Africa Summit

The MoneyAura Africa Summit will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 26th and 27th, 2025. Peter Gitau, Non-Executive Director, Standard Chartered Bank

Peter Njuguna has been appointed as the Non-Executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank. With over 30 years of experience in banking, operations, technology, and digital innovation, he served as the Bank’s Executive Director and Chief Technology and Operations Officer until November 2024. He previously held various senior positions within the Standard Chartered Group across multiple markets in Africa and Asia, and also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. The Standard Chartered Bank Board stated that his deep institutional knowledge, strategic insight, and experience in navigating complex regulatory environments will be invaluable in strengthening the Board’s oversight role. He has held leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank across Africa and Asia, bringing expertise in business strategy, digital transformation, risk management, and operational excellence. Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Kinya Kimotho, Independent Non-Executive Director, Standard Chartered Bank

Kinya Kimotho has been appointed as the Independent Non-Executive Director at Standard Chartered Bank. She is a seasoned finance leader with over 25 years of experience in strategic finance, governance, and business transformation across Africa and Europe. She has held senior leadership roles in multinational organisations, including Finance Director positions at GlaxoSmithKline, Nielsen, and Diageo’s East African Breweries. Kinya currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Unga Group Plc and as a Regional Director at The Alpha Group. She is also the founder of a fractional CFO practice that partners with businesses to enhance their strategy and financial management and works as an executive coach. The Board stated that her extensive track record in finance leadership will add significant expertise to the Board. Kinya holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Economics and Business Studies from Kenyatta University, an MBA from the University of Nairobi, and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the Institute of Directors in both Kenya and the United Kingdom.
