RESUMPTION OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Tuesday, 23rd July 2024 marks the return of the National Assembly from recess. The House adjourned amid significant national protests against the 2024 Finance Bill. Upon resumption, we anticipate the Assembly to deliberate on the current state of the nation. 

SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET FY 24/25

Wednesday, 24th July 2024 marks the deadline for public participation on Kenya’s Supplementary FY24/25 Budget. The National Assembly will subsequently consider the supplementary estimates and the supplementary appropriations legislation so as to give effect to the revised fiscal framework and the proposed expenditure reductions.

INTERVIEWS FOR DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE TO COMMENCE

The National Police Service Commission has indicated that the interviews for the vacant role of the Deputy Inspector of Police for both the Kenya Police Service and the Administration Police will commence today. Shortlisted candidates for both positions will be interviewed at the Kenya School of Government.

THE AFRICA E-MOBILITY WEEK

Scheduled to commence between 17th  to 19th September, the Africa E-Mobility Week promises to be an engaging forum for players in the e-mobility space. Attracting various stakeholders including industry players, regulators and exhibitors, the event will host a number of events including policy discussions and exhibition of modern technologies in so far as e-mobility is concerned.

EABL CEO appointed Chairperson of Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM)

Having served as the Vice Chairperson since July 2022, Ms. Karuku will now have the chance to lead the Association’s Board of Directors for a two-year term, succeeding Mr. Rajan Shah, whose term has come to an end. 

Having indicated her goal and focus to driving Kenya’s industrialization agenda as well as driving membership growth and enhancing stakeholder engagement, Ms. Karuku’s plates are full even as she takes the lead of one of the country’s leading and influential industry bodies. 

Ms. Karuku is the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of East African Breweries Limited (EABL). She is a dynamic business leader, with strong management experience spanning over 25 years in FMCG and non-governmental organizations. She is the second woman business leader to chair the KAM board. 

In other appointments, Mr. Hitesh Mediratta, the Managing Director for PG Bison (Kenya) Limited has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson. He has served on the KAM Board in various capacities, including providing strategic guidance on trade and tax matters affecting the manufacturing sector. 

The outgoing Chairman, Mr. Rajan Shah, will remain an Ex-Officio member of the Board, playing an advisory role in directing the growth of the Association.
