The Constitution of Kenya Amendment Bill 2025 is up for public participation across the country this week. The bill, sponsored by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, seeks to amend the Constitution through a parliamentary initiative to establish three funds: the National Government Constituencies Fund, the Senate Oversight Fund, and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund.
This bill has sparked controversy as MPs, including members of the ODM party, have defied their party leader Raila Odinga’s call to disband the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). Mr.Odinga had reprimanded MPs, urging them to stick to their mandate and fulfill their duties or face the consequences in the upcoming general elections.
