Supreme Court to Mention Challenge to Penal Code Provisions on 20 July
A petition challenging the dismissal of a constitutional case contesting Sections 162(a) and (c), 163 and 165 of the Penal Code is scheduled for mention before the Supreme Court on Monday, 20 July 2026. The petitioner seeks to overturn decisions of the High Court and the Court of Appeal, arguing that the courts improperly applied the doctrine of res judicata without examining the relevant records and failed to address substantive constitutional questions concerning the limitation of rights under Articles 24, 27, 28, 31 and 32 of the Constitution.

Smart Governance Summit

3rd National Agroecology Symposium Set to Advance Kenya’s Sustainable Food Systems
Kenya will host the 3rd National Agroecology Symposium (NAS 2026) from 22 to 23 July 2026 at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies in Nairobi. Organised by PELUM Kenya in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and partners, the symposium will be held under the theme “Transforming Agrifood Systems through Agroecology: A One Health Approach for Inclusive, Sustainable, and Resilient Futures.” The two-day event aims to accelerate the implementation of Kenya’s National Agroecology Strategy for Food Systems Transformation (2024–2033) by fostering dialogue on policy and governance, the One Health approach linking human, animal, and environmental health, women and social inclusion, pastoralism and biodiversity, and the scaling of agroecological practices. Bringing together policymakers, farmers, researchers, civil society organisations, and the private sector, the symposium is expected to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration and drive practical solutions for climate-resilient and inclusive agricultural transformation in Kenya.
