The National Assembly is scheduled to resume its sittings on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at 2.30 pm after being adjourned due to a lack of quorum. The tentative business includes the Second Reading of the Equalisation Fund Appropriation Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 39 of 2026), followed by the Committee of the Whole House on the same Bill.
The House is also expected to consider motions on the implementation status of reports on petitions and House resolutions, as well as audited financial statements for various funds.
The Senate is on Recess and is set to resume Plenary on 8th September 2026.
The High Court and courts of equal status will remain in recess until 15 September 2026, while the Supreme Court’s recess will run throughout August. During the recess, designated duty judges will handle only urgent matters, while court registries will remain open on weekdays for filings.
The 4th Africa Food Show Kenya 2026 is scheduled for 19–21 August 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. Under the theme “Transforming Agrifood Systems for Healthy Diets: From Seed to Plate”, the conference will serve as a major pan-African B2B platform, bringing together producers, processors, investors, policymakers and innovators from the food and beverage value chain to promote trade, innovation and sustainable agricultural transformation.
A cluster of major agribusiness and trade exhibitions is scheduled for 20–22 August 2026 at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi.
The events include the 6th Grains Africa Expo and the 10th Agro & Poultry Africa, alongside co-located exhibitions such as Interplast-Pack Africa and Food-Beverages-Kitchen Africa.
The exhibitions will bring together exhibitors, buyers, processors and other industry players from across East Africa and beyond. Discussions and business opportunities will focus on grains, livestock, poultry, food processing, packaging and related technologies.
Safaricom Plc has appointed Matimba Mbungela, Vodacom Group’s Chief Officer for Human Resources, as a Non-Executive Director of Safaricom, effective 13 August 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Mbungela has been with the Vodacom/Vodafone Group since 2003 and has held senior human resources roles spanning talent management, organisational effectiveness and change across Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. He previously held senior HR positions at BMW South Africa and Unilever and has served as a Non-Executive Director of Vodacom Tanzania, Vodacom Mozambique and Vodacom Lesotho. Mbungela holds a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Venda, a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources from the University of Cape Town and an MBA in Strategy and Human Resources from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His appointment strengthens Vodacom Group’s representation on Safaricom’s board following the resignation of James Ludlow and Dr. John Kipngetich Mosonik, with the changes taking effect on 13 August 2026.
