The National Assembly shall be on recess from 13th March 2026 to 30th March 2026
The High Court in Embu is set to commence the hearing of the Mbeere Election Petition on Monday, March 9, 2026, before Justice Richard Mwongo. The proceedings, which challenge the outcome of the parliamentary election in Mbeere, will run from March 9 to March 12 and resume from March 16 to March 19, 2026. Election petitions are an important part of Kenya’s electoral dispute resolution process, providing a legal avenue for candidates or petitioners to contest the validity of election results. During the hearings, the Court will receive witness testimony, examine documentary evidence, and hear legal arguments from the parties involved. This includes the petitioner, the declared winner, and the electoral commission, before eventually determining whether the election was conducted in accordance with the law and whether the results should stand.
From 16th March 2026, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) will hold public sensitisation forums across Kenya in Mombasa, Nairobi, and Kisumu to educate stakeholders and the public about the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) import certificate process. These forums aim to raise awareness and provide guidance on the new regulations taking effect from 14th March 2026, ensuring that importers, producers, and businesses understand their compliance obligations. NEMA officials, together with local government representatives, will facilitate discussions, answer questions, and demonstrate practical steps for obtaining the certificates. The initiative targets all relevant stakeholders and community members affected by the regulations, helping them navigate the system effectively. The events will be held at regional hubs in each city, making the sessions accessible to participants across Kenya’s Coastal, Central, and Western regions.
The KEPRO Taka Tour is set to take place on 18th March 2026, offering participants a one-day immersive experience in circular economy practices. The tour will visit three major recycling facilities handling paper, glass, and plastic, amid discussions on how post-consumer waste can be converted into valuable resources. Organisers say the event provides practical insights for businesses and individuals seeking to integrate circular economy principles, while also serving as a platform for networking among sustainability stakeholders. This initiative is an important educational milestone and a catalyst for promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices in Kenya.
