The National Assembly Clerk declared vacancies of chairperson, vice chairperson in reconstituted committees following approval on March 5. The nominations close on March 11 and 12, 2025 when the elections of the chairpersons and vice chairpersons are expected to take place at designated offices.

Public Secondary Schools Capitation Funds

The  Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has said that public secondary schools will receive the balance of Sh14 billion first term capitation funds by the end of next week. He spoke at the quarterly meeting for technical and vocational education and training principals at the Eldoret National Polytechnic.

The schools were to receive Sh28 billion for the first term but the ministry only disbursed half of it. Mr Ogamba has asked schools not to send learners away over fee arrears as the money will be in school accounts next week.

2025 Kenya Population and Development Conference

The 2025 Kenya Population and Development Conference is scheduled for 11-13th March 2025 at Nairobi. This is a platform that seeks to bring together experts, researchers, policymakers, and program implementers to take stock of the progress made, reflect on best practices and interventions, and identify gaps in population and development in the country. The conference will trigger a conversation around emerging population and development issues in the country and shape future population policies and programming.

Mr. Stephen Odinga Okello

Independent Non-Executive Director of Stanbic Holdings Plc

The Board of Directors of Stanbic Holdings announced the appointment of Mr. Stephen Odinga Okello as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Mr. Okello recently retired as a tax consultant with more than 35 years’ experience in auditing, financial advisory, tax consulting, strategy, and general corporate management. He has been involved in due diligence reviews, business process re-engineering, strategic planning, risk management, organizational restructuring, financial and operational audits, tax planning, tax audits, among others. He has previously worked with PwC in its various forms across different offices in different jurisdictions.

Mr. Okello holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has undertaken numerous courses on business development, data analytics, human resources, risk management, financial consulting, among others. In addition to that he is involved in philanthropy with a focus on girl-child education.
