National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi is this week expected to present the Budget Policy Statement (BPS) to Parliament. The BPS will outline the government’s expenditure plans for 2025-2026 and project the amount the government intends to borrow from the local and international markets.
The Law Society of Kenya has filed a case against Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, accusing him of defying court orders regarding police identification and unlawfully suppressing peaceful protests. The hearing is set for this Friday, February 14, 2025.

Appointed as the New IT Executive Director at Bank of Uganda
The Bank of Uganda has appointed Collin Babirukamu as its new IT Executive Director. Collin has over 25 years experience in leadership and business transformation using Information Technology.
Previously he served as the Director e-Government services at National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda.
In 2003, he went on to work for the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) a World Bank Project at the Ministry of Finance which automated payments Ministries, Local Governments and Agencies as well as the RTGS network to the Bank of Uganda.
Collin moved on to the National Social Security Fund in 2007 as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and later Chief Information Officer for a period of 5 years to March 2015 where the Fund underwent process automation and was transformed using digital channels for member and employer access.
He worked as the Cloud Territory Leader at Oracle Corporation East Africa since August 2018, he was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Head of IT at NSSF – Uganda. He also worked for a regional systems integrator LANTECH Africa where he was involved in numerous projects including the initial ATM rollout for Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Uganda network (LAN) and applications as well as the UN Head Office LAN.
Collin holds a Bachelor’s of Computer Science (BCS) from Mbarara University of Science & Technology and a Master’s in Leadership Development in ICT & the Knowledge Society from the University of Mauritius. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Leicester (UK) and another Post Graduate Diploma in ICT & Knowledge Society from Dublin City University (Ireland). He is currently pursuing his PhD at ISBAT University.
