Sammy Chepkwony, a seasoned human resources professional with over 30 years of experience, has been sworn in as the Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). He succeeds Lyn Mengich, whose tenure ended in September 2024.

Chepkwony has held senior roles in prominent organisations, including Kenya Airways, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Tata Chemicals, and Aga Khan University. At Kenya Airways, he served as the Human Resource Director but resigned after five months, citing personal reasons. His departure occurred amidst high-profile exits at the airline, which has faced challenges such as staff turnover and disputes with the Kenya Airline Pilots Association. He is the founder and CEO of People Centric Management Limited, a firm specialising in human resources solutions. He has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. Chepkwony is also a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).

During vetting by the National Assembly’s Labour and Social Welfare Committee in November 2024, he revealed, “I developed an entire public sector salary and remuneration structure for the East African Community. I recently helped develop the remuneration structure for the police service and the prisons service.”

The HR professional disclosed his net worth of KSh 251 million, which includes assets such as land, homes, vehicles, and shares in various companies.
