Group CEO, APA Apollo Group

Risper Ohaga has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of APA Apollo Group, marking a defining milestone in her career and a strategic leadership shift for the regional insurance group. She will transition from her current role as Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at East African Breweries PLC, where she has served since February 2020 and is expected to depart on 30 June 2026.

At EABL, Ohaga played a central role in strengthening the Group’s financial architecture, including capital structure optimisation through the issuance of Medium Term Notes (MTNs) and debt refinancing initiatives that enhanced liquidity resilience. She was also part of the executive leadership involved in the financial structuring and execution oversight of the strategic transaction between EABL and Asahi Group Holdings. This deal reshaped ownership dynamics and reinforced alignment on long-term investment in the East African market.

Before joining EABL, she served as Chief Financial Officer at Barclays Bank Zambia and held senior internal audit roles across thirteen African markets within the banking group’s regional network. Her governance footprint extends beyond executive management; she previously served as a Non-Executive Director at I&M Bank Kenya and as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Board Audit and Risk Committee at APA Insurance, prior to her appointment as Group CEO.
