President Ruto’s Second State of the Nation address
President Ruto made his Second State of the Nation Address in Parliament on November 21, 2024. In his speech, he highlighted some of his government’s achievements since he assumed office in 2022. Among his numerous successes, he was most pleased with the seamless integration of Taifa Care from NHIF, which had since become ineffective. The President also guaranteed that any pending payment since the transition would be fully paid off by the government. He was also pleased to announce that the advertisement for the houses for sale under the affordable housing scheme was ongoing, urging all Kenyans to undertake the process of purchasing one.
The President stated that his government was currently undertaking to recruit teachers under the JSS curriculum in a bid to boost the CBC education system. He reiterated that this year has been a more trying time for him as a leader, with his biggest takeaway being that leadership calls for one to listen to the needs and cries of the people one is serving. He urged the Members of Parliament to always attend to the service of the people with an open heart and listening ear. Lastly, following immense pressure, he called for the cancellation of certain agreements that had caused an uproar throughout the country due to a lack of transparency in the tendering process. He promised to ensure that the tendering process would be conducted openly and transparently with priority being given to Kenyan companies.
