JUDICIARY

  • The Judiciary has published a Court Fees Assessment Schedule to apply to the lodging or filing of documents in the relevant proceedings before the High Court, Environment and Land Courts(ELC), Magistrates Court. Kadhis Court, Tribunals save for Political Parties Dispute Tribunal, Transport Licensing Appeals Board, Industrial Property Tribunal, Energy Tribunal, Competition Tribunal, Rent Restriction Tribunal, Business Premises Rent Tribunal and the Co-operative Tribunal.
  • The Supreme Court recess shall commence on Monday, 2nd August, 2021 and terminate on Wednesday, 15th September, 2021, both days inclusive. A duty judge will be available during the recess to deal with urgent matters. During the period, the Supreme Court registry shall be open to the public from 8.30 am. to 5.00 p.m. on all weekdays other than public holidays.
  • The High Court of Kenya at Kisii, Chief Magistrate Court at Embu and Garissa as well as the Principal Magistrate Court at Vihiga and Mwingi have given notice for intended disposal of records has given notice for the intended disposal of various records, books and papers

PUBLIC SECTOR

Appointments

  • The Attorney-General has appointed Dorcas Agik Oduor to be a member of the Kenya Law Reform Commission, for a period of five (5) years and revoked the appointment of Jacob Ondari.

Political Parties

  • The Registrar of Political Parties has given notice that the following parties have applied for provisional registration; Vitendo na Sera Party (VSP), Kenya Democracy for Change (KDC), Kenya Union Party (KUP) and Pamoja African Alliance (PAA).
  • The Registrar of Political Parties has given notice that the Party for Peace Democracy (PPD) political party has applied for full registration.
  • The Registrar of Political Parties has given notice that Jubilee Party (JP) and Orange Democratic Party (ODM) have received funds from the Political Parties Fund for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of the Financial Year 2020/2021 in the amounts of Kshs. 353,856,423.40 and Kshs. 165,252,076.60 respectively.

TRADE AND MANUFACTURING

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Petroleum and Mining has extended the term of the Taskforce to Develop a Regulatory Framework for Integration of Salt Works into the Mining Legislative Framework for another ninety (90) days, with effect from the 16th June, 2021.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Petroleum and Mining has published the rates for gemstone identification and value addition at the Voi Gemstone Centre for public comments
  • The Commissioner of Customs and Border Control has appointed Messrs. Boss Freight Terminal Limited as:
  1. a transit shed and set out the limits,
  2. entry and exit to and from Customs Area
  3. place for examination of cargo
  4. places for Containerized Cargo/Storage Space
  5. places for Customs Warehouse
  • The Customs and Border Control Department has published a list of goods in the Customs Warehouse – ICDE Nairobi and issued a Notice that if they will not be entered and removed from the Warehouse within thirty (30) days they will be sold by public auction on 10th August, 2021 and 11th August, 2021.

ENERGY SECTOR

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has published prices for electrical energy liable to:

  1. fuel energy cost charge of plus 330 Kenya cents per kWh for all meter readings to be taken in July 2021;
  2. a foreign exchange fluctuation adjustment of plus 116.12 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in July, 2021;
  3. a Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) levy of plus 1.93 Cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in July 2021

ICT SECTOR

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, Technology, Innovation and Youth Affairs has extended the term of the Taskforce on the development of Data Protection (General) Regulations for a period of three (3) months, with effect from the 7th July, 2021.
  • PCK, a body corporate established by the Postal Corporation Act, 1998, has applied to the Communications Authority of Kenya for approval to review their postage rates as necessitated by increased cost of service delivery. The proposed changes are as indicated in the Table below:

FINANCE SECTOR

  • The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has received claims for unclaimed assets from persons:
  1. a) claiming to be administrators of the estates of deceased persons and agents of the original owners.
  2. b) who, through sworn affidavits, have indicated that the original policy documents have been lost

If no objection will be lodged at the offices of the Authority within 30 days from today, payment will be made to the claimants listed in the Gazette and on the evidence of the sworn affidavit for lost original policy document and any liability on the lost policy document will immediately cease.

  • The Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Agency Director has given notice to Esther Wagio Njunge and 5 Others, Peter Mugi Kamau and Another and Active Electrons Africa Limited and 2 Others that the High Court has issued preservation orders in Nairobi High Court Miscellaneous Application No. E019 of 2021, E02I of 2021 and E020 of 2021 respectively.

Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Kenya National Highways Authority proposes to construct approximately I42km of single carriageway from Elwak to Rhamu, two-lane 7.0m wide, bitumen surfaced road with 2.0m shoulders on each side in Isiolo, Wajir and Mandera counties.
  • Fair valley Heights Limited proposes to establish Phase II Fair Valley Heights Residential Development comprising 6 blocks, containing 128 three bedroom units, 178 two bedroom units and 21 one bedroom units, 10 shops and 19 villas, a commercial zone with adequate shops, ample parking, a playground and other social amenities on plot L.R. No. 10426/61 in Mavoko Sub-county, Gimu Area, Machakos County.
