The National Assembly—Calendar

The National Assembly of Kenya has approved its 2024 calendar, which includes the following schedule for the remainder of the year:

Second Part: Sitting days will occur from July 23 to August 15, 2024, with sessions on Tuesdays (afternoons), Wednesdays (mornings and afternoons), and Thursdays (afternoons). This will be followed by a long recess from August 16 to September 16, 2024.

Third Part: The Assembly will resume sitting from September 17 to October 10, 2024, with the same weekly schedule. There will be a short recess from October 11 to October 28, 2024, and then sittings will continue from October 29 to December 5, 2024. A long recess will extend from December 6, 2024, to February 10, 2025, including an annual suspension of Committee Sittings from December 16, 2024, to January 26, 2025.

The Assembly may also schedule additional sittings outside of the published calendar as necessary.

The National Treasury and Economic Planning—Statement of Actual Revenues and Net Exchequer Issues as at 31st July 2024

The statement of actual revenues and net exchequer issues as of July 31, 2024, has been issued.

The Unclaimed Financial Assets Act—No Objection

A notice has been issued by F. A. John Mwangi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Trustee. concerning claims for unclaimed assets submitted by administrators of estates and agents of original owners. If no objections are received within 30 days, payments will be processed. Additionally, claims have been made for lost policy documents; payments will be made based on sworn affidavits if no objections are raised within 30 days. For further information, contact the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority at Pacis Centre, 2nd Floor, off Waiyaki Way, P.O. Box 28235 – 00200, Nairobi.

The Mental Health Act—Appointments
In the High Court of Kenya at Nairobi, Aadil Soroya Ayub and Hina Kauser Soroya have been appointed as managers and legal guardians of Sabah Ayub’s estate and affairs. Objections to this appointment must be lodged within 14 days.

In the High Court of Kenya at Mombasa, Abdilahi Salim Badri has been appointed as manager of the estates and affairs of Abdulhalim Ahmed Salim and Abdulmuin Ahmed Salim, effective September 29, 2023. Objections must be lodged within 14 days.

The Co-operative Societies Act—Inquiry Order, etc

The Commissioner for Co-operative Development notifies the public that under the Co-operative Societies Act, inquiries have been authorised into the affairs of Kilimo Services Sacco Society Limited and SAFEPAK SACCO Limited. For Kilimo Services Sacco Society Limited, an inquiry into the bylaws, financial conditions, and management conduct has been assigned to CPA Peter Wanjohi Kiama, Silars Okoth Dede, and Michael Maigwa. This inquiry is to be completed within 10 days. Similarly, an inquiry into SAFEPAK SACCO Limited’s bylaws, financial conditions, and management conduct has been authorised for Peter Onyango Okul and Charles Luusa Mbatha, with the inquiry to be completed within 15 days. 

Samson Kibati Micheni has been discharged from his duties as the liquidator for Chuka Farmers Co-operative Society following the successful completion of the liquidation process.

 

The Survey Act—Kenya Land Law Examination, 2024


The Kenya Land Law Examination will be held on December 5, 2024, at KISM, Nairobi. Eligible candidates must apply by October 21, 2024. A fee of KSh 5,050.00 is required, payable through E-Citizen. Applications and proof of eligibility must be submitted to the Land Surveyors’ Board.

The Insolvency Act—Appointment of Liquidator, etc

Appointment of Liquidator
Kamal Anantroy Bhatt has been appointed liquidator for United Insurance Company Limited effective July 16, 2024. Creditors must submit their claims to the liquidator to benefit from any distributions. The liquidator acts as an agent of the company without personal liability.

Tom Mungai Ouma has been appointed as liquidator for Small and Medium Entrepreneurial Resource Centre Limited (In Liquidation) following a creditors’ meeting on July 23, 2024. The liquidation order took effect on July 31, 2024, for 12 months. Creditors must submit their claims by August 28, 2024, to the liquidator.

Closure of Private Roads

Delamere Estates Limited has announced the closure of all private roads and footpaths within Manera Estate and Soysambu Estate. The closure will take place for twenty-four hours, from midnight on Friday, August 23, 2024, to midnight on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Pedestrians will be prohibited from using these roads during this period.
