Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Between Kenya and the European Union, EPA Council Appointment  

Five members representing Kenya in the EPA Council were appointed, including Salim Mvurya as Co-Chairperson and four Cabinet Secretaries.Muslaia Mudavadi,John Mbadi,Dr.Andrew Karanja and Aden Duale. 

 

The State Corporations Act, Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital Appointment  

General (Rtd.) Robert Kibochi was appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital for three years.  

 

The Sugar Act, 2024, Kenya Sugar Board Appointment  

Eng. Nicholas Odero Gumbo was appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Sugar Board for three years.  

 

The State Corporations Act, Kenya Biovax Institute Limited Appointment  

Dr. Swarup Ranjan Mishra was appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Biovax Institute Limited for three years.  

 

The Civil Procedure Act, Rules Committee Appointment  

Advocate Willis Oduor Oluga was appointed as a member of the Judiciary Rules Committee.  

 

The Auctioneers Act, Auctioneers Licensing Board Appointment  

Edwin Okemwa Saisi and Gladys Warigia Mwangi were appointed to the Auctioneers Licensing Board for three years, while Ericsson Obura’s appointment was revoked.  

 

The National Museums and Heritage Act, National Museums of Kenya Appointment  

Dr. Reuben Koima was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Museums of Kenya for three years.  

 

The National Lottery Act, 2023, National Lottery Board Appointment  

Susan Akinyi was appointed as a member of the National Lottery Board for three years.  

 

The National Government Co-ordination Act, Establishment of Administrative Units  

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, with the President’s approval, established new administrative units for service delivery. 

 

The Accountants Act, Disciplinary Committee 

 Mary Mukami Njehu and Sylvester Willys Namagwa were appointed as members of the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya for a period of three years, effective 1st September, 2024.

The Cabinet Secretary National Treasury has appointed various persons including John Odhiambo Mudany , Haron Koimur, Erasto Mukuria Ng’ang’a and Stanley Mugo Mwangi as members of the Registration and Quality Assurance Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

 

The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, Public Procurement Regulatory Board

Linda Susan Ingari was appointed as a member of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

 

The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, Public Procurement Administrative Review Board 

Robert Kiprop Chelagat was appointed as a member of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

 

The Central Bank of Kenya Act, Monetary Policy Committee

Isis Nyong’o, Kemboi Kipruto (Dr.), Freshia Mugo (Dr.), and Jared Osoro were appointed as members of the Monetary Policy Committee for a period of three years, effective 24th August, 2024.  

 

The National Youth Service Act, National Youth Service Council

Yussuf Abdi Gedi and Ann Mumbi Runji were appointed as members of the National Youth Service Council for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024. The appointments of Hussein Tene Debasso and Dr. Nkatha Gichuyia were revoked.  

 

The Sports Act, Kenya Academy of Sports Council

Patrick Sang was appointed as a member of the Kenya Academy of Sports Council for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

 

Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Gender Protection and Implementation Committee

An Advisory Board and Secretariat were established to oversee the implementation of gender welfare and equity policies in sports, including combating gender-based violence. Members include Prof. Paul Ochieng, Ms. Catherine Ndereba, Ms. Barbra Malowa, Ms. Essie Akida, Mr. Benjamin Wafula, Ms. Elizabeth Wangeci Gichuki, and Ms. Joyce Kebenei, among others.  

 

The Social Health Insurance Act, Social Health Authority 

Angela Ndunge (Dr.) was appointed as a member of the Social Health Authority for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

 

The State Corporations Act, Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital Board 

Stanley Musyoki Kyungu, Seraphino Sama Lengewa, and Bishop Paul Githinji Wanjohi were appointed as members of the Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital Board for a period of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.

 

The Climate Change Act, Appointment
The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry appointed  members of the Multi-Sectoral Technical Committee (MSTC) from the following ministries and organisations for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 22nd November 2024:Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry,Ministry of Roads and Transport,Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development,Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum,Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry,Council of Governors and Secretariat.

The Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum appoints:Njage Makanga Njoki (Dr.) to be a member of the Board of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya for a period of three (3) years, 

The Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service Act, Appointment

Sylvia Mulama Kamande appointed as a Board member of Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service for a term of three years, effective 22nd November, 2024.  

The Microfinance Act, Categorization of Microfinance Bank

Approval of Choice Microfinance Bank Limited’s application to transition from a community to a nationwide microfinance bank by the Central Bank of Kenya.  

The Vexatious Proceedings Act , Vexatious Litigant

The High Court declared David Oscar Owako a vexatious litigant.He is prohibited from initiating or continuing legal proceedings without the court’s leave. This decision follows the Attorney General’s application under the Vexatious Proceedings Act.

The Constitution of Kenya, 2010, Establishment of Senator Andrew Okiya Omtatah Okoiti Presidential Exploratory Committee

Senator Andrew Okiya Omtatah Okoiti of Busia County has established a Presidential Exploratory Committee to evaluate the feasibility of his bid for the 2027 General Election. The committee consists of members including Mary Kathomi Riungu as Chairperson and Charles ole Kabaiku as Deputy Chairperson. Its terms of reference cover political viability assessments, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, legal compliance oversight, media and public relations, and fundraising strategies.The committee will operate for a maximum of 18 months or until the senator formally announces his candidacy.

Mwananchi Kwanza Media Limited , Modogery Media Group Limited,Vilcom Networks Limited,Dereki Enterprises Limited, Kwetu Computers Limited, Quick Fiber Limited, Millenia Limited, and other companies have applied for various licences. 

The Competition Act , Proposed Acquisition Authorization

The Competition Authority of Kenya has authorised the proposed acquisition of sole control of Ramco Plexus Limited by Ramco Inc. and the proposed acquisition of the entire issued share capital of National Bank of Kenya Limited by Access Bank (Kenya) Plc, with conditions on workforce retention for one year.

The Principal Magistrate’s Court at Karatina intends to apply to the Chief Justice for permission to destroy certain court records, files, books, and papers.

A special resolution was passed at an extraordinary general meeting of Vodacom Business Kenya Limited to wind up the company as a Members’ Voluntary Winding Up.Creditors are required to submit details of their claims against the company to the joint liquidators by 2nd December 2024.
