Appointments

  • H.E William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appointed Basil Criticos to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Trade Network Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • H.E William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appointed Ann Wambui Njuguna to be the Chairperson of the Uwezo Fund Oversight Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appointed Hillary Marrimoi and Raymond Nyamweya, to be members of the Competition Tribunal, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appointed Tom Kimaru, Sammy Chepkwony, Caroline Bosco, and Rosemary Wanjiru Thiongo, to be members of the Insurance Tribunal, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appointed Timothy Kimathi, and Anthony Kiprono, to be members of the Retirement Benefits Appeals Tribunal, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appointed Nicholas Kamuya Ng’arua as a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Markets Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appointed Paul Lilan, Constance Gikonyo, Godwin Wangongu, and Paul Wanga, to be members of the Capital Markets Tribunal, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. The appointment* of Adrian Kamotho Njenga is revoked.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport appointed Adrian Kamotho Njenga to be the Chairperson of the Transport Licensing Appeals Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy appointed Sarah Kabira to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. The appointment* of Nicholas Kamuya Ngarua is revoked.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy appointed Evalyn Koiyan, and Bevin Angellah Bhoke, to be members of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. The appointment* of David Mwangi Kuria and Ezekiel Onyango is revoked.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mithika Linturi, appointed Johana Cheruiyot to be a member of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Moses Kuria, appointed Geoffrey Omenke, and Joe N. Muriuki, to be members of the Board of Directors of Export Processing Zones Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Moses Kuria, appointed Florence Wangui to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Investment Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, appointed Nicholas Marete, Glory Mutungi, Alice J. Mutai, Edwin Kipchumba Korir, and Wilfred Ochieng Auma as members of the Council of the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu appointed Ahmed Farej, Mercy Mwaniki,  Loice C. Kutoh, David Mwangi,  Joseph K. Arimba (Dr.), Wambua Nyamai, and Florence Suji, as the chairperson and members of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Salim Mvyura, revoked the appointment* of Stephen Kuria as the Chairperson of the Mineral Rights Board.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Alice Wahome, appointed Julius K. Ndumbi to be a member of the Board of Directors of the National Irrigation Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. Gazette Notice No. 6434 of 2020 is revoked.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), the ASALS and Regional Development, Rebecca Miano, appointed Justina Chepnyango, Reuben Chepsongol, Rosemary Nchinyei Parengiro, Christine Jepkoech, and John Lanyasunya (Amb.) to be members of the Kerio Valley Development Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Simon Chelugui, appointed Ahmed Jibril, Emma Wangari Wainaina, Rakesh Kumar Bvats, Patricia Chelimo, and Anthony Kaara, as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Industrial Estates, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 26th May 2023. Gazette Notice No. 9356 of 2022 is revoked.
  • The Attorney-General, Justin Muturi, has appointed Justin Muturi among other members to be the chairman of the Governing Council of the National Crime Research Centre.
  • Commissioner for Co-operative Development, David K. Obonyo, re-appointed Stephen Kamau Njoroge, Assistant Director of Co-operative Audit, to act as liquidator in the matter of the co-operative society.

 

Judiciary

  • Keroche Breweries Limited Insolvency Petition:

Notice is given that a petition for the liquidation of the above-named company by the High Court was on 31st August 2022 presented to the said court by Hamilton Harrison & Mathews Advocates, of P.O. Box 30333–00100, Nairobi, and the said petition is directed to be heard before the High Court sitting at Nairobi on the 22nd  of June 2023 and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous to support or oppose the making of an order on the said petition may appear at the time of the hearing in person or by his advocate for that purpose and a copy of the petition will be furnished by the undersigned to any creditor or contributory of the said company requiring such copy on payment of the regulated charge for the same.

 

Environment and Land Sector

  • The proponent, Mutara Orchards Limited, proposes to establish an avocado plantation farm on a 2000-acre piece of land. The farm will also be used to cultivate other vegetables such as kale, cabbage and spinach among others. The proposed project will also entail the construction of a dam that will be used for water storage that will be collected from the surface runoff, staff housing, parking area, medical clinic camp offices, storage area and associated facilities. The proposed project will be located on Plot L.R. No. 17510, Laikipia West Sub-County, Laikipia County.
  • The proponent, Cemtech Limited is proposing to establish a cement grinding plant which will comprise of installation of a cement grinding mill, feed hoppers, transport conveyors, weighbridge, canteen, drivers rest area, garage, fuel station, administration offices, cement storage silos, associated facilities, equipment and amenities. The proposed project will be located on parcel No. Turbo East/Leseru Block 7(Leseru)/764 and Uasin Gishu/Mile Thirteen Settlement Scheme/1527 off Eldoret Webuye Highway within Uasin Gishu County.
  • The proponent, Kenya National Highways Authority proposes to construct a class C primary road that is approximately 94km long. The main section is approximately 49km and will have a desirable width of 40m and 25m in sections traversing Aberdares Forest and starts at Ihithe, through Nyayo Tea Zone, Aberdare National Park, Kahuruko and ends at Ndunyu Njeru. Other road sections included in the project are the Njengu–Treetops Gate-Ambone, the Ihithe– Kiamutiga–Mukarara, the Ark Gate Access, the Munyaka–Koinange– Heni–Mwendandu and the Njoma–Weru Road sections, all totalling approximately 44km in length. The proposed project traverses through Nyeri and Nyandarua counties.
  • The proponent, Yuanshi Group Limited, proposes to develop a residential apartment block of 16 No. Storey (2No. basements, ground plus 16 floors). The development will comprise a total of 272 No. apartment units (144 No. one-bedroom units, 128 No. two-bedroom units), parking on the basements and ground floors, perimeter wall with entry/exit gates, lifts and staircases, associated facilities and amenities. The proposed project will be located on plot L.R. No. 1/437(original No 1/432/3) along Kindaruma Road in Kilimani, Nairobi City County.

 

Banking Sector

  • The Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya has notified, for the general information of the public, that the specified bank formerly known as First Community Bank Limited, has by resolution of the Board and approval of the Registrar of Companies, effected a change of name from First Community Bank Limited to Premier Bank Kenya Limited, with effect from 20th April 2023.
