Kenya’s political scene is shifting once again, as a new alliance of political heavyweights positions itself as the force to beat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election. In an unexpected show of unity, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i joined former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, People’s Liberation Party’s Martha Karua, and former Public Service CS Justin Muturi met in Nairobi today, declaring themselves the team that will “liberate Kenyans” from Ruto’s administration. The five were not alone. They were joined by Eugene Wamalwa, Mithika Linturi and Mukhisa Kituyi, forming a nine-member team bound by a common goal: to unseat President Ruto in 2027.
