IEBC Chair and Commissioners Sworn In
The new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson and six commissioners have been sworn in before the Chief Justice. Erastus Edung Ethekon is the Chairperson of the Commission, and Ann Njeri Nderitu, Dr. Moses Alutalala Mukhwana, Mary Karen Sorobit, Hassan Noor Hassan, Francis Odhiambo Aduol, and Fahima Araphat Abdallah are Commissioners.
The High Court in Nairobi cleared the way for the swearing-in after a three-judge bench on Thursday evening dismissed a petition that challenged their selection and nomination. Consequently, shortly after the High Court delivered its ruling, a fresh Gazette Notice dated July 10, 2025, was issued, with the President formally appointing the seven nominees in compliance with the Court’s directive.
