  • President Ruto and CS National Treasury hint on Finance Bill comeback

While on a development tour in Kisii, President Ruto hinted that his broad-based government is working to bring back the positives from the defunct Finance Bill, 2024 to address the country’s financing deficits. The National Treasury CS, John Mbadi, reaffirmed this during the handover exercise from the former CS, Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u. 

 

  • Full in-tray for incoming Attorney General following Parliamentary approval

Following the approval and high praises about her appointment, the incoming Attorney General Dorcas Agik Oduor will have a full in-tray when she finally assumes office. Concerns around the high fines from international contracts and strategic counsel for the government are some of the issues the trailblazing AG will tackle once in office. 

 

  • Eldoret becomes Kenya’s fifth city

President Ruto conferred city status to Eldoret this week. Eldoret, which serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County, which makes up part of the larger Rift Valley region, becomes the fifth city in Kenya, joining Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru. The city status follows the Senate’s Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations recommendations, citing Eldoret’s compliance with the Urban Areas and Cities Act of 2011.
