President Ruto presides over groundbreaking of Talanta Sports City

President William Ruto on Friday presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Talanta Sports Stadium. The event took place at the Jamhuri Grounds on Ngong Road. The 60,000-capacity stadium is one of the host venues earmarked for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ruto meets Azerbaijan Minister for Ecology at State House

President William Ruto on Thursday met with Azerbaijan Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Bahadur Babayev at State House, Nairobi. “The gains from the COP28 conference in Dubai last year provide the best platform so far to advance global climate action. It is, therefore, imperative that these giant steps are sustained as we head to this year’s United Nations climate conference in Azerbaijan.”

Ex-Sports CS Richard Echesa’s acquittal overturned

It has been a short-lived moment of freedom for the Chairman of Kenya Water Towers Agency, Rashid Echesa, after the High Court at Milimani overturned his acquittal.

In December 2021, Echesa was cleared of the charges in the Sh39 billion fake arms deal. Aggrieved, the Prosecution moved to the High Court seeking to overturn the acquittal. Delivering his judgment, Judge Kanyi Kimondo found that the trial magistrate erred by acquitting Echesa based on a lack of testimony from certain witnesses.
