Ahmed Farah, Executive Director, East African Business Council
Ahmed Farah is the Executive Director of the East African Business Council (EABC), where he leads efforts to advance regional integration, trade facilitation and implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agenda across the East African Community (EAC).
Farah has extensive experience in trade policy, infrastructure development, investment and public-private sector engagement. Before joining the EABC, he served as Country Director for TradeMark Africa (TMA) in Kenya. He held senior leadership positions at the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), where he was appointed Chief Executive Officer in November 2024.
In December 2022, President William Ruto appointed Farah to the National Investment Council, where he advises the government on strategies to promote and attract foreign direct investment (FDI).
His career has focused on strengthening regional economic cooperation, improving trade systems and supporting investment across East Africa.
Farah holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Kenyatta University and a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Manchester.
