PUBLIC SECTOR

Appointments

• The Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works has appointed members of the Technical Taskforce to Oversee the Review and Updating of Road Design Manuals and Standard Specification, with effect from the 21^st December, 2021.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizen Affairs and Special Programmes has appointed Nuria Gollo Halakhe and Bishop Benard Njoroge Kariuki to be members of the National Council for Children Services, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 15^th November, 2021.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operatives has appointed Florence N. Mutembei, Mary Jeruto Indeje, Charles Mwangi Kirigwi and Kennedy Mochere Kaburi to be members of the Tea Board of Kenya, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 1^st December, 2021.

ENERGY SECTOR

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has published prices for electrical energy liable to:

a) a fuel energy cost charge of plus 463 Kenya cents per kWh for all meter readings to be taken in January 2022;

b) a foreign exchange fluctuation adjustment of plus 73.14 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in January 2022;

c) a Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) levy of plus 1.74 Cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in January 2022.

d) an inflation adjustment of plus 47 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in January, 2022.

FINANCE SECTOR

• The National Treasury and Planning has published the Statement of Actual Revenues and Net Exchequer Issues as at 31^st December, 2021.
• The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has received claims for unclaimed assets and has published persons claiming as administrators of the estates of deceased persons and agents of the original owners and noted that if no objection has been lodged at the offices of the Authority within thirty (30) days, payment will be made to the aforementioned persons.
• The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has received claims for unclaimed assets and from persons who, through sworn affidavits, have indicated that the original policy documents have been lost and noted that if no objection has been lodged at the offices of the Authority within thirty (30) days, payment will be made to the aforementioned persons on the evidence of the sworn affidavit for lost original policy document and any liability on the lost policy document will immediately cease.

GENERAL

• The Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage has declared several areas considered to be of historical and socio-cultural interest to be national monuments within the meaning of the National Museums and Heritage Act. Any objection to the declaration may be lodged with the Cabinet Secretary within sixty (60) days from 14^th January, 2022.
• The Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands has issued the Guidelines on Intergovernmental Relations Units in the National Government and County Governments.
• The Advocates Complaints Commission has published its 124^th Quarterly Report and notified the Public that from the 1^st October, 2021 to the 31^st December, 2021, the Commission received a total of two hundred and thirty-two (232) new complaints and submitted them for enquiry under the Preliminary Enquiry initiative.
• The Chief Magistrate’s Court at Makadara has given notice that they intend to apply to the Chief Justice for leave to destroy various records, books and papers of the Chief Magistrate’s Court records at Makadara.·          

LAND AND ENVIRONMENT SECTOR

Environment Impact Assessments

• The proponent, United Auto Enterprises Limited, proposes to set up an 8 tonne per day waste tyre pyrolysis plant comprising a perimeter wall, pyrolysis machine shed and base, offices, store, staff residence, stock tyre storage yard and other associated facilities and amenities.
• The proponents, Taraben Sobhagchand Shah and Nishul Sobhagchand Shah, propose to set up a residential apartment with a total of 209 units. It will have a basement, ground floor and eleven other floors. The basement and ground floors will be used for parking while the other floors will have 2-one bedroomed houses and 17 bedsitters for residential purposes.
• The proponent, Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple, proposes to develop residential apartments comprising 7-semi-detached 6-storey blocks with a total of 312No. apartment units (20No. one bed-roomed apartments, 48No. two bed-roomed apartments, 244No. three bed-roomed apartments) parking, meeting hall, management offices, guard house, protected dustbin cubicles, driveways, and other associated facilities and amenities.
