THE NATIONAL TREASURY AND ECONOMIC PLANNING STATEMENT OF ACTUAL REVENUES AND NET EXCHEQUER ISSUES AS AT 31ST AUGUST, 2026

The National Treasury reported KSh 882.23 billion in actual revenues and financing as at 31st August 2026, against annual estimates of KSh 5.18 trillion. Total Exchequer issues stood at KSh 780.64 billion, including KSh 724.998 billion to the National Government and KSh 55.64 billion in equitable share releases to county governments, leaving an Exchequer balance of KSh 101.59 billion.

THE LAND ACT (Cap. 280) LAPSSET CORRIDOR, LAMU INTENTION TO COMPULSORY ACQUIRE LAND

The National Land Commission intends to compulsorily acquire specified parcels of land in Lamu County on behalf of the LAPSSET Corridor for the development of the LAPSSET Corridor Road. A separate notice will be issued for inquiries into the affected land and compensation claims.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revised the allocation of special seats in the Kwale County Assembly following a High Court decision, replacing Fartun Mohamed Musa with Agnes Otieno, Augustine Ndegwa with Aaron Kennedy Kavuwa, and Rachael Katumbi Mutisya with Nuria Huka. The three deleted nominees are consequently excluded as Members of the County Assembly of Kwale.

THE NATIONAL LAND COMMISSION SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP AND INTEGRITY CODE FOR STATE OFFICERS IN THE NATIONAL LAND COMMISSION A COMMITMENT TO ABIDE BY THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LEADERSHIP AND INTEGRITY ACT, 2012

The National Land Commission (NLC) has published a Specific Leadership and Integrity Code for its State Officers, setting standards on integrity, professionalism, financial conduct, impartiality, confidentiality, use of public resources and compliance with legal and ethical obligations. State Officers must sign and commit to the Code upon appointment or within seven days of its publication in the Gazette, with breaches subject to disciplinary action and, where applicable, removal from office.

The New Democrats Party intends to change its national leadership, including appointing Samir Suleiman Shahbal as interim Party Leader, replacing David K. Sudi, alongside changes to several other party positions. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has amended KPLC’s 2023 Schedule of Tariffs, effective 1st July 2025, introducing new rules for net metering, e-mobility, electricity dumping and customer tariff classification. Key changes include an e-mobility tariff of KSh 16/kWh and KSh 8/kWh during off-peak hours, a net-metering credit equivalent to 50% of electricity exported to the grid, and automatic classification of domestic and small commercial customers based on their three-month average consumption.
