Governor of Mandera County Mohamed Adan Khalif has appointed Hutbi Abdi Abdullahi as a Member of the Board of Elwak Water and Sewerage Company Limited for a five-year term, effective 1st September 2026. The appointment of Mohamed Abdi Abdullahi, made through Gazette Notice No. 5594 of 2025, has been revoked. 

Governor of Nyeri County Dr. Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga has appointed Kimani Rucuiya as County Attorney for the County Government of Nyeri. 

Nairobi City Governor Johnson Sakaja has established a multi-sectoral taskforce to review the implementation of the Nairobi City County Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2026. The taskforce will examine licensing fees, regulatory requirements, enforcement, taxation, revenue generation, responsible gaming, consumer protection and overlaps between national and county regulation, and will make recommendations on legislative, regulatory and administrative reforms. The taskforce is required to submit its final report within 21 days of gazettement, unless its term is extended.  

THE COUNTY GOVERNMENTS ACT (Cap. 265), NAIROBI CITY COUNTY — LAND RATES FOR 2027 

The Nairobi City County Government has notified ratable property owners that land rates for 2027 will become due on 1st January 2027. Rates for flat-rate zones will range from KSh 2,560 to KSh 4,800 annually depending on plot size, while residential, commercial and agricultural properties will generally attract a rate of 0.115% of the new assessed value under the 2019 Draft Valuation Roll, subject to transitional provisions. Property owners who objected to the new valuations will continue paying the old rates pending determination of their objections 

Governor of Kajiado County Joseph Jama Ole Lenku has appointed Francis Gitau Parsimei as Chairperson, alongside members representing the county government, traders, residents and the public, to the Kajiado County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee for a three-year term, effective 28th July 2026. 

THE URBAN AREAS AND CITIES ACT (Cap. 275), KAJIADO COUNTY – APPOINTMENT OF AD HOC COMMITTEE 

Governor of Kajiado County Joseph Jama Ole Lenku has appointed representatives from professional bodies, neighbourhood associations and the business community to an Ad Hoc Committee tasked with considering recommendations for the conferment of Municipality Status on Namanga Township. 

Siaya Governor James Orengo has appointed Erick Z. Abungu Odawa as Acting County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning, while revoking the previous appointment of George Odhiambo Nying’iro.

Siaya Governor James Orengo has appointed Joseph Otieno Rading, Christin Jenifer Akinyi, Erick Z. Abungu Odawa, Dr. Ochogo Nicholas Kut, Willis Okoth Ochieng and Adhola Augustine Neto as County Executive Committee Members for various dockets, and Emma Velma Achieng Maumo as County Attorney. 

Governor of Nandi County Stephen Kipyego Sang has appointed an Ad Hoc Committee comprising representatives from professional bodies, the business community and urban-area associations to consider recommendations for the conferment of Municipal Status on Mosoriot Town and Nandi Hills Town. 

The County Government of Nakuru has announced completion of a Part Development Plan for a proposed site for the Kenya Assemblies of God Church in Njoro Township, under Plan No. R23/2025/01. The plan relates to land within Njoro Town and has been deposited at relevant physical planning offices for public inspection. Interested persons may submit written representations or objections within 30 days of publication.  

THE PHYSICAL AND LAND USE PLANNING ACT (Cap. 303), COUNTY ASSEMBLY OF NAKURU — APPROVAL OF LOCAL PHYSICAL AND LAND USE DEVELOPMENT PLAN 

The Nakuru County Assembly approved the Sirwai Zoning Plan, Development No. MIN 058, on 13th August 2025. Certified copies of the approved plan have been deposited at the County Director of Physical Planning’s office at Nakuru Ardhi House and the Sub-County Planning Office in Naivasha for public inspection.  

The County Government of Kericho has announced its intention to prepare a Local Physical and Land Use Development Plan for Fort Ternan Town. The plan is intended to guide land use and urban development, strengthen development control, prescribe future land uses, establish an implementation and monitoring framework and develop a GIS-based planning system. Members of the public may submit comments within 21 days, and not later than 18th September 2026
