Senate Resumes Sittings as National Assembly Recess Continues

The Senate ends its recess and resumes formal plenary sittings on Tuesday, 8 September 2026. Priorities for the House Business Committee include fast-tracking county revenue allocation frameworks, mediating outstanding revenue division bills between the two Houses, and considering pending committee reports from August. Meanwhile, the National Assembly remains on its scheduled long recess until 28 September 2026.

East Africa Trade & Logistics Summit Focuses on Regional Integration

Following regional finance and agrifood forums in early September, Nairobi will host key regional logistics, cross-border supply chain, and transport sector stakeholders starting mid-week. Discussions will focus on streamlining intra-EAC trade corridors, digital customs integration, cold-chain infrastructure for agricultural exports, and leveraging regional transport frameworks to boost continental trade volume under AfCFTA agreements.

Foodtec Africa 2026 to Convene Agrifood and Industrial Processing Leaders

The 3rd edition of Foodtec Africa will take place from 9–11 September 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. The international trade exhibition focuses on food processing, industrial manufacturing, and agricultural packaging technologies. Bringing together smallholder aggregators, commercial food producers, venture capital investors, and regional regulators, the platform aims to connect global technology providers with East African markets to accelerate industrialisation, boost post-harvest value addition, and strengthen regional supply chains.

Habil Waswani Named Acting CEO, Kenya Airways

The Kenya Airways Board of Directors has appointed Habil Waswani as Acting Group Managing Director and CEO, effective 15 September 2026. Waswani, who has served as the airline’s Company Secretary and Director of Legal Services and Regulatory Compliance since March 2021, assumes the top executive role following the resignation of Capt. George Kamal. With over 24 years’ expertise in commercial law, corporate governance, and regulatory strategy across banking, insurance, and aviation, Waswani will guide the carrier’s ongoing turnaround plan while the Board initiates a competitive recruitment process for a substantive CEO.
