The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) exceeded its December revenue target, recording strong growth as it entered the second half of the 2025/26 financial year. The agency also posted its highest-ever monthly customs collection, driven largely by oil and non-oil import taxes.

Exchequer revenue reached Ksh 284.3 billion, surpassing the target of Ksh 261.8 billion and reflecting year-on-year growth of 30 per cent.

Finance Minister Orders BoT to Crack Down on Predatory Lenders
The Minister of Finance, Ambassador Dr Khamis Mussa Omari, has directed the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) to strengthen oversight of the financial sector to protect citizens from unregulated lenders.

The directive targets the growing use of high-interest loans, commonly known as kausha damu, which have resulted in borrowers losing property and other valuable assets due to punitive lending terms.

Speaking on behalf of the minister during National Financial Services Week celebrations in Tanga, Deputy Minister of Finance Laurent Luswetula urged the public to exercise caution before taking loans.
