Privatisation of the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited.

The National Assembly, through the Speaker, have invited submission of Memoranda on the privatisation of the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited. The House received Sessional Paper No. 2 of 2025, which proposes the privatisation of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) through an Initial Public Offer (IPO) on the Nairobi Securities Exchange to raise funds for the 2025/2026 budget. The plan aims to unlock KPC’s potential, empower Kenyans to own shares in a profitable national asset, enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and foster innovation. Proceeds will support key development priorities, reduce borrowing, and deepen capital markets, balancing economic empowerment with national interest. The public is invited to submit written memoranda to the Departmental Committee on Energy and the Public Debt and Privatisation Committee by 5:00 p.m. on 13 August 2025.

KNCHR Chair Nominee.

The nomination has been formally submitted to Parliament for the position of Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR). Prospective candidate(s) are required to appear before approval hearings, bringing along original identification, academic and professional certificates, and other relevant testimonials. Members of the public are welcome to submit their written memoranda either via email to the Clerk of the National Assembly (clerk@parliament.go.ke) or by hand to Parliament’s offices in Nairobi, all submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

Approval Hearing of The National Police Service Nominees.

The National Assembly has scheduled approval hearings for nominees to the National Police Service Commission, following President William Ruto’s submission of names for consideration. The nominees Dr. Amani Yuda Komora and Ms. Angeline Sipora will appear before the Departmental Committee on 13thAugust 2025, from 9:30 am and 10:30 am respectively. The Hearings shall be held in Committee Room 26 on 5th Floor Bunge Towers. Members of the public are invited to submit written statements or evidence-backed representations on the nominees’ suitability, either physically to the Clerk of the National Assembly or via email, on or before 12th August 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

Richard Etemesi.

Richard Etemesi has just stepped into his newest role as a Board Member of Kenya Breweries Limited, a subsidiary of East African Breweries PLC, effective 30 July 2025. With over three decades in corporate and commercial banking, Richard’s career has been defined by leadership at the highest levels of Standard Chartered Bank, including serving as Chief Executive Officer for Kenya and East Africa, as well as South and Southern Africa. He later rose to Vice Chairman, Africa, guiding strategy and growth across the continent. His journey also includes boardroom influence at Standard Chartered Tanzania and, more recently, Liberty Kenya Holdings PLC, where he was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director. Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nairobi and a Master’s in Finance from Strathclyde Business School, Richard combines deep financial expertise with a commitment to mentoring the next generation of business leaders. His presence on the EABL board signals both experience and vision at the table.
