Senate to determine Gachagua’s fate.

The fate of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now lies with the Senate this week as he appears before the house before the vote on the impeachment charges. The Senate will hear the case in plenary on Wednesday, October 16, and Thursday, October 17, 2024. Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Senator for Kericho, will lead the prosecution of the motion received from the National Assembly. Mr. Gachagua and his legal team will have the opportunity to respond and undergo cross-examination.

The country is geared up for the celebration of Mashujaa Day set to happen on 20th October. This year’s celebrations are happening amid the recent impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speculation is rife that, if the Senate upholds the impeachment, a new Deputy President nominee could be announced in time for the occasion.

Over 10,000 primary school heads will convene in Mombasa next month for the 20th Annual National Delegates Conference to discuss digital transformation in education. The four-day conference, from November 4 to 7, will feature discussions on leadership in the digital era, digital tools for classroom management, equitable access to education through technology, and digital well-being for both teachers and learners.

Marion Gathoga Mwangi

Marion Gathoga-Mwangi has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Absa Kenya. Currently, Marion serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer at the Standard Group PLC. Her previous experience includes roles as Managing Director at BOC Kenya PLC, a Linde Group company, and various executive positions in African Oxygen (Pty) Limited, another Linde Group company. Furthermore, she has served as a non-executive director at British American Tobacco Kenya PLC and BOC Kenya PLC. Marion holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business Administration from the United States International University- Africa (USIU-A) and a Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching from the Academy of Executive Coaches. Additionally, she contributes as Adjunct Faculty at Strathmore Business School Training, where she leads the Women In Leadership program.
