Public Holidays

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i has declared Friday  29th April, 2022  to be a public holiday throughout the Republic in order to accord all Kenyans the opportunity to participate in the State Funeral Service in honour of the life of the late H.E. Mwai Kibaki, the Third President of the Republic of Kenya.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i has declared that Tuesday 3rd May, 2022, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr. 

PUBLIC SECTOR

Appointments

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i has appointed Mithamo Muchiri as a member of the National Transport and Safety Authority Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 1st May, 2022.
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i has appointed Dr George Ogalo as s a member of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 1st May, 2022. 
  • The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i has appointed various persons as members of the National Community Service Orders Committee, each member, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 2nd May, 2022.
  • Lillian Akinyi Okumu-Obuo has been appointed as a member of the Taskforce on the National Council on the Administration of Justice Bill, constituted by the Attorney-General vide Gazette Notice No. 4318 of 2022, and shall serve on the terms specified therein.

Appointments

  • Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Martha Koome has appointed numerous magistrates to preside over cases involving children in the areas of jurisdiction of their current court stations and future court stations deployed to from time to time, with effect from the 1st April, 2022.

  • The Chief Manager of the Customs Warehouse ICDE has gazetted notice that if goods are not removed from the Customs Warehouse within thirty (30) days from 28th April 2022, they will be sold by public auction on 30th May, 2022.
  • The Chief Manager of Nairobi Customs Station has gazetted notice that if goods are not removed from the Customs Warehouse at Forodha JKIA within thirty (30) days from 28th April 2022, they will be sold by public auction on 31st May, 2022.

Environmental Impact Assessment

  • The proponent, Goldland Rinco Company Limited proposes to redevelop Likoni Flats Estate which involves the relocation of existing tenants, demolition of old housing structures and construction of a new housing units in a project christened likoni heights for outright sale to the general public. A proportion of these housing units will be sold under the affordable housing project championed by the National Government. There will be a total of 1,116 housing units. The breakdown of housing units is as follows; housing units 1,364, community hall 1, playing surfaces, build up area 118,817m2 and parking spaces 658.
  • The proponent, Mashujaa Q &M PLC, proposes to develop a limestone mine site at Chisamba Sub-location, Kilifi South Sub-county in Kilifi County. The mine site area will comprise of: mineral ore limestone mining area, ore haulage, mineral ore storage, area, ore loading site, site garage, waste area and parking, administrative site offices, canteen and other related infrastructure. There is no existing houses on the proposed mine site. The topography and geology of the mine area inhabitable for human settlement. The proponent will employ an open pit surface mining method. It will involve removing the overburden, top soil and rock waste to expose the mineral-rich ore. The proponent has a team of competent and experienced directors with vast knowledge in the extractive industry.
  • The proponent, Alina Valley Company Limited, proposes to develop residential apartments comprising of three semi-detached 15- storey blocks with a total of 248 No. apartment units (1No. one bedroom apartment, 154No. two bedroom apartments, 15No. two bedroom+DSQ apartments, 15No. three bedroom apartments, 48No. three bedroom+DSQ apartments, 15No. four bedroom+DSQ apartments), ground floor, 3No. basement floors, lifts, guard house, protected dustbin cubicles, driveways, and other associated facilities and amenities on L.R. No. 209/9351, along Likoni Lane off Dennis Pritt Road, Kilimani, Nairobi City County.
