JUDICIARY
  • The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Martha Koome, gazetted notice of the following: 
    • The Supreme Court recess shall commence on Monday, August 1, 2022, and terminate on Thursday, September 15, 2022, both days inclusive. 
    • The duty Judge will be available during recess to deal with urgent matters. 
    • During this period, the Supreme Court Registry shall be open to the public from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all weekdays other than public holidays. 
  • The Principal Judge of the High Court, Lydia Achode, has gazetted notice that the August recess of the High Court and Courts of Equal Status shall commence on August 1, 2022, and terminate on September 15, 2022, both days inclusive.

Appointments

  • The Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works, James Macharia, has reappointed Basil Ntwiga Nyagah to be a member of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority Board for a period of three (3) years, with effect from July 23, 2022.
  • The Acting Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and the ASALs, Eugene Wamalwa, has  established a selection panel to be known as the Selection Panel of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee.
  • The Attorney-General, Paul Kihara Kariuki, has appointed various persons as members of the Taskforce on the National Council on the Administration of Justice Bill constituted by the Attorney-General vide Gazette Notice No. 4318 of 2022 of April 14, 2022.

Environmental Impact Assessment

  • The proponent, Taifa Gas Investments SEZ Limited, proposes to construct Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) import and storage terminal and related facilities at Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zones in plot L.R No. Mombasa/Mainland South/Block IV/247 in Mombasa County. The LPG terminal project will encompass the following: 12 spheres; each will have a net capacity of 2,500 metric tons (MT), 1 bullet tank of 200 metric tons (MT), pump room, fire fighting system, administration block, driveway and truck parking facilities, canteen, bulk loading area, ablution block, power control room, weighbridge office, workshop, boundary wall . The proposed plant is designed to store propane, butane and LPG mix of various grades for domestic, commercial and industrial use.
  • The proponent, Yiruo Fish Farm Kenya Limited, intends to establish a proposed sustainable and responsible tilapia cage culture in the waters of Lake Victoria, around Lwanda Rombo Beach area Suba North Sub-county, Homa Bay County. The proposed Aquaculture Production Zone (APZ) of the proposed site for this project is located approximately 500m from the shoreline.
