THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Forestry has appointed Mohammed Balala, Andrew Bahati Mwamuye and Waithaka Ngaruiya to be members of the National Environment Tribunal, for a period of six (6) months, with effect from the 20th October 2022.

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Forestry has appointed Belinda Akoth Akello as the Secretary of the National Environment Tribunal, with effect from the 1st December 2022.

ENERGY SECTOR

The Authority has developed the Draft Energy (Net Metering) Regulations, 2022, together with the associated draft Regulatory Impact Statement. The main objective of the Regulations is to provide a framework for prosumers to bank excess energy on the grid hence promoting the uptake of renewable energy in Kenya through net metering. Stakeholders are requested to review the document and provide feedback.
