PUBLIC SECTOR

Appointments

  • Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i, has appointed Alice Wanjira Mutuma to be a member of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board (NACADA), for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 1st February, 2022. The appointment* of Esther Nyambura Gathogo is revoked.
  • Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning, Farida Karoney, has appointed numerous persons to be Adjudication Officers of Land Adjudication Areas, dated 1st February 2022.  

Revoked Appointments

  • Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Eugene Wamalwa, has revoked the appointment of Damaris Lilech as a member of the Kenya Shipyards Limited Board of Directors.

FINANCE SECTOR 

  • Governor, Central Bank of Kenya, has gazetted notice that the Monetary Policy Statement December 2021, and the Monetary Policy Committee Report has been issued and circulated. 

TRADE AND MANUFACTURING SECTOR 

  • The Director-General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has given notice that prices for electrical energy specified in Part II of the Schedule of Tariffs 2018 shall be liable to a fuel energy cost charge of plus 463 Kenya cents per kWh for all meter readings to be taken in February 2022.
  • The Director-General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has given notice that prices for electrical energy specified in Part II of the Schedule of Tariffs, 2018, shall be liable to a foreign exchange fluctuation adjustment of plus 73.14 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in February 2022.
  • The Director-General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has given notice that prices for electrical energy specified in Part II of the Schedule of Tariffs, 2018, shall be liable to a Water Resource Management Authority (WRMA) Levy of plus 1.74 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in February 2022. 
  • The Director-General of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has given notice that prices for electrical energy specified in Part II of the Schedule of Tariffs, 2018, shall be liable to an inflation adjustment of plus 47 cents per kWh for all meter readings taken in February-June, 2022.
  • Kenya Accreditation Service CEO Martin Chesire has gazetted notice that the Accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies are listed in the register of accredited bodies as of 11th February, 2022.
  • The Secretary of the National Standards Council has gazetted the declaration of the specifications or codes of practice to be Kenya Standards with effect from 11th February 2022. 

LAND & ENVIRONMENT SECTOR 

Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Kenya National Highways Authority has proposed to upgrade and dual of approximately 50 km of the Isinya- Konza- Malili (B50) Road mainly located in Kajiado County (38km) and sections in Machakos and Makueni counties. The road traverses through Malili Town at the junction with Mombasa-Nairobi Road (A8), through Konza, Isinya Town at the junction of Athi River-Namanga Road (A2), Kiserian, Ngong, Kimuka terminating at Suswa Town, Narok County. 
  • National Housing Corporation, proposes to develop the NHC Stoni Athi Housing Project, Phase 2, sector A and B of 7-storey comprising 96 No. two bedroom and 64 No. three bedroom units with a total of 160 units in each sector totaling to 320 units, parking space for each unit, other associated facilities and amenities on plot L.R. No. 10426/81 in Mavoko, off Mombasa Road, Machakos County. The National Environment Management Authority invites members of the public to submit oral or written comments within thirty (30) days from the 11th February 2022 to the Director-General, NEMA, to assist the Authority in the decision making process regarding this project.
  • Erdemann Property Limited, proposes to expand the River Estate Residential Development by constructing additional 3 blocks of 34 floors each with 10 units per floor, additional two units per floor on the previously approved 6 blocks of 34 floors each of 8 units per floor making it a total of 10 units per floor by doing away with the 3-bedroom units in favor of 2 bedroom and studio apartments. The development will have a total of 1,835 No. housing units. 16 No. shops, parking lots in the two basements and ground floor. Other project associated facilities and amenities shall include an onsite concrete mixer batching plant, lifts, staircase, driveways, green area and two gates. The National Environment Management Authority invites members of the public to submit oral or written comments within thirty (30) days from the 11th February 2022 to the Director-General, NEMA, to assist the Authority in the decision making process regarding this project.
  • Minara Homes Limited, proposes to develop a single mega high-rise residential-apartment block comprising single basement floor, ground floor plus 17 No.floors) with a total of 180 No. apartment units of three, four and five bedroom apartments accompanied by 4 No.bedroomed duplexes with domestic servant quarter from 2nd to 18th floor, 4No. slots for fast and heavy duty lifts installation, 213 No. parking slots, mosque (prayer area), gym, swimming pool and other associated facilities and amenities on L.R.’ No. 1870/1/237 situated along Eldama Ravine Road Highridge Area within Westlands Sub-County Nairobi City County. The National Environment Management Authority invites members of the public to submit oral or written comments within thirty (30) days from the 11th February 2022 to the Director-General, NEMA, to assist the Authority in the decision making process regarding this project.
